Are you looking to provide a nice pen for your dog? You can make your own wooden dog pen which can be placed in your indoor space. It is very simple to create dog pen at your home with easy steps to follow.
Materials Needed
- 2*4 wooden pieces 8 feet long (Depends on the available space)
- 2 boxes of 2.5” wooden screws
- 250 mg of Glue
- Cordless Drill with 1/8” drill bit.
- Table saw
- Miter Saw
- Protective Eye wear
Steps to be followed
- First set 30 degree point in your miter saw and fix it using screws. Make sure that the fixed point does not move until the completion of your project.
- Cut the wooden pieces using miter saw into smaller pieces in equal length.
- Make 12 similar pieces like this and make sure that all measures 30 degree along edges.
L – Shaped Pieces
- Now place two wooden pieces along its cutting edges so that it looks like L shaped.
- Now drill hole in one of the two wooden pieces at 45 degree using 1/8” drill bit.
- Put glue at both edges connecting the wooden pieces and then inserts 2.5” screw through the hole and tight it to look like L shaped piece.
- Similarly make 5 more L shaped pieces.
Hexagon Pieces
- Now join the first 3 L pieces so that it looks like hexagon. Follow step 5 and step 6 to make hexagon.
- Similarly join the other 3 L pieces to make the second hexagon.
- Now cut as many 26.5” wooden pieces using miter saw and sharp its edges flat.
- Place 2 corner ends of the first hexagon on a table so that the remaining corners lie outside the table. Now bring one 26.5” wooden piece under one hexagon corner.
- Using whip clamp hold the edges connecting the hexagon corner and 26.5” wooden piece .Put two drills on the top of hexagon which are connected with 26.5” wooden piece.
- Now insert the screws and tight them.
- Similarly bring the 26.5” wooden pieces under other corners. Apply glue and screw them like you did before.
- Flip the first hexagon along with the connected 26.5” wooden pieces. Place the second hexagon piece on the surface of the standing 26.5” wooden pieces.
- Glue on the surface which connects the top hexagon and the standing wooden pieces.
- Repeat step 12 and 13
Supportive piece
Supportive piece is shorter in length compared to the inner pieces. It helps to support while fixing the inner pieces.
Inner Wooden pieces
- Now make inner wooden pieces using miter saw in such a way that it exactly fixes the gap between the two hexagon pieces.
- Put glue on the both edges of the inner wooden piece and fix them in-between the two hexagons using a supportive piece.
- Drill hole on the top of the hexagon connecting the hexagon and inner wooden piece. Insert screws and tight them.
- Leave equal spaces between the first and the second inner wooden pieces.
- Repeat steps 19 and 20 for filling the remaining gaps between the hexagons.
- Now flip the other side of the hexagon.
- Follow step 20 to finish your dog pen.
